What causes pain?
Our bodies are meant to move. Beautifully and without pain.
Joints, muscles, tendons, nerves, bones and all our other insides should exist and function harmoniously. When they don’t, we know it.We can experience anything from stiffness and dull aches to tightness and sharp pain – bottom line is we don’t feel so great … or worse, we out-and-out hurt.
The injury? lt may be the result of a single event (improperly lifting an object, having surgery, suffering a fall) or of repetitive strain (weeks hunched over a laptop, for example), but whatever the cause, it has the potential to throw any number of your body’s systems completely out of whack. Muscle tightness, inflammation and/or pain is sure to come knocking.
How does chiropractic care work?
Chiropractors specialize in diagnosing and treating tissue injuries involving the nerves, spine, muscles and joints. By manually applying a gentle, controlled and directed pressure into areas that have become hypomobile (restricted in their movement), a chiropractor can restore mobility and alleviate pain, nerve interference and those unfriendly “knots,” allowing tissues to heal.
Used in conjunction with Active Release Technique (ART®), chiropractic adjustments have proven to be especially beneficial in the treatment of joint restrictions, restoring range of motion, and decreasing chronic muscle and joint pain.
What does a chiropractic appointment look like?
The first chiropractic visit lasts between 45 minutes and 1 hour and involves an assessment, a physical examination, diagnosis and treatment plan. Subsequent visits typically are between 15 and 20 minutes.
