Imagine a swimming pool. Beside that pool, imagine a swimmer, cap donned, stretching beside the water, shaking his arms to loosen muscles before diving into the water to test his abilities against the clock. Now, also imagine that under the water are complex puzzles (ex. Solving a rubic’s cube with oven mitts on; a 110 year old man with long grey beard and a crooked walking stick posing riddles like: “If a man is under water without a scuba, does he make a sound?”). This is Doug’s jam: swimming like a fish and solving puzzles like a fiend.
Doug’s interest in the world of aquatics lead him to become a dedicated athlete with more than fifteen years as a competitive swimmer with the University of Alberta, Team Alberta, Junior Team Canada and the Olympian Swim Club. And, in his dedication to physical activity, Doug also earned his Bachelor of Physical Education and Recreation at the University of Alberta. Once he had that credential tucked away in the back pocket of his speedo, he was off to Davenport, Iowa to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic. And he was not satisfied with stopping there either. Since then, Doug has done work at a Post-Graduate level including becoming a full body Level 5 certified Integrative Diagnosis provider for the diagnosis and treatment of soft tissue dysfunction. Someone like Doug believes that, unlike in the 100 meter butterfly event, there is no finish line when it comes to learning about how to best treat his patients.
Just to clarify, in case the puzzle thing above piqued your curiosity but seemed confusing, on top of Doug’s discipline and drive to become an elite athlete and a Doctor of Chiropractic, it is his love of puzzles that really brings his sharp mind to the challenge of discovering the root of his patient’s concerns. (As a side note: Doug promises not to “rubic’s cube” anyone, unless it will help them.) See, now it all makes sense: swimming like a fish and solving puzzles like a fiend.
