Are you struggling with pain, tingling or numbness?

Our poor muscles – so often over-used and abused! They’re only able to take so much before they seize up and scream at us, seemingly in protest. Once a soft tissue injury occurs, the body tries to protect itself by producing tough, dense scar tissue in the injured area.  From there things can go downhill and we start feeling the effects. The scarring binds up and ties down tissues that need to move freely, resulting in reduced mobility, weakness and pain. If nerves happen to get trapped as well, you may additionally experience tingling, numbness, burning sensations and muscle atrophy. Definitely a situation to avoid. Fortunately, however, if youre already experiencing these symptoms, ART® can get you back on track.

What is ART?

With incredible tactile sensitivity, ART® practitioners first locate and then facilitate the release of soft tissue restrictions and nerve entrapments, by way of removing or breaking up surrounding scar tissue. Smooth movement of tissues – gliding over, around and through each other – is literally felt by the practitioner and is evidence of function being restored.

Used in conjunction with chiropractic adjustments, Active Release Technique (ART®) has proven to be especially beneficial in the treatment of joint restrictions, nerve pain, restoring range of motion, and decreasing chronic muscle and joint pain.

How was ART developed?

ART® was developed in 1985 by Dr. P. Michael Leahy after he had noticed that many of his patients’ symptoms seemed to be related to changes in the body’s soft tissues. Using specific types of movement and touch, Dr. Leahy was able to feel for, identify, and address the changes, consistently resolving over 90% of his patients’ problems.  At Revive, Dr. Bronwen is full-body certified in ART®.
