The Techy Stuff

What type of Device and Browsers do I need?

The best experience for your virtual appointment is using a computer or laptop using Chrome or Firefox.  Android devices work best with Chrome.  If you’re on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad) you will need the Jane Online Appointments app which is available on the app store.

What About my Internet Speed?

Check your internet connection at fast.com. You will need a result of 15Mbps or higher. If you’re seeing a number measured in Kbps, that’s not good news. If your internet connection isn’t great, you will have the option to shut off the video and do an audio only session.

Do I need any specific software?

Nope. Revive is using a new online booking and billing system called JaneApp.  You will be sent an email from the clinic to set up a Jane account and fill in the intake forms.  This should take approximately 5-10 minutes and is important as we need to get some information from you

before we do a virtual appointment.    All you have to do is log into your Jane account, and press the button to start your session.  You will also be directed to read and “click” the consent form provided to start your virtual appointment.  You will then be joined into the online session.

Is the interface secure and PIPA & HIPAA compliant?

Yes! The Online Appointments feature was built exclusively within Jane and it is all provided within our secure infrastructure that meets our privacy standards. There are no 3rd-party players  behind the scenes.

We are using a standard that provides peer-to-peer audiovisual communication in most cases. This means that all the traffic flows directly between each user’s web browser and completely bypasses our servers. The traffic is also encrypted in transit and none of the data is stored

anywhere at any time.

This approach ensures our online appointments are PIPA and HIPAA and address the major  privacy concerns clinics and patients have around virtual/video appointments.

Will I be able to record audio or the chat communication?

Video, audio or chat communication cannot be recorded during an Online Appointment session. This approach ensures that this feature remains PIPA  compliant and addresses major privacy concerns around Telehealth posed by clinics.  If your therapist wants to record or screen shot a portion of the session in order to share the information with you afterward, they will obtain consent from you first and then delete the image or video afterwards.

Does my insurance cover the costs of these treatments?

Great news is many do!  Good news is that many are getting on board with each passing week.

Here is a list of insurance providers that will cover your virtual appointments.

General Extended Health:

Manulife, Sunlife, Canada Life, Greenshield, Medavie, Vet Affairs, RCMP, Canadian Forces; and Alberta Blue Cross.

MVA Insurance – all MVA claims are pending case approval, so please ask your practitioner to check directly regarding your claim.

How should I dress?

Come dressed for your virtual session in the way that you would if you were coming in for a treatment.  In other words  – we need to be able to see the area that is bugging you and you will need to be able to move.   We also recommend that if possible, you use a laptop as you can change the angle of the camera when needed.  We also recommend that you schedule the session in an area where there is good lighting and you will be free to move and without distractions.

How do I book?

Contact your practitioner and we will book the appointment for you.  You will be sent an introductory email to Jane and intake forms and Sue will connect with you to collect payment.   We are doing this to ensure that we are doing all the right things to guarantee that this is a seamless and easy process for you moving forward.   Thank you for your patience!  If you are new to our clinic, ou will receive a welcome email from Revive via Jane when we add you as a patient  – asking you to set up your account, and fill in some information.   From there, you will have the freedom to book your appointments online from home.  You can of course, still call if you’d rather book in person or have questions about how to book as well!
