Visceral Manipulation

Posted By cmoser / / No Comments

Visceral Manipulation – that’s quite the mouthful. Simply put, it means our specially-trained therapists give you a specific kind of manual therapy to relieve pain. They focus on your internal organs (your viscera) and address any problems the organs have with moving.

Think about it: your internal organs, such as your liver, kidneys and intestines, are in perpetual motion. When you breathe, walk and stretch, they move in your chest and abdomen. Restrict their ability to move, and your body will compensate. But that can lead to pain and other troublesome symptoms, sometimes occurring far away from the source. Imagine scar tissue around the lungs. With every breath you take, the scar tissue alters the normal pattern of movement, and, believe it or not, will likely result in back and neck pain as well as limited shoulder movement.

Our therapists evaluate your entire body to assess the source of the problem and then apply gentle pressure to get your organs moving again as they should. So whether you’re suffering from physical trauma or are affected by infection, pollution or poor posture (who isn’t, really?), Visceral Manipulation can help! Many of our patients feel much better after just three to five sessions.

CranioSacral Therapy (CST)

Posted By cmoser / / No Comments

It likely comes as no surprise that our bodies can absorb all the stresses that come our way on a daily basis. Tension weasles itself into all sorts of nooks and crannies, including the body’s craniosacral system (the soft tissues and fluid that protect the brain and spinal cord). The craniosacral system is intimately connected with the all-powerful central nervous system; if one suffers, so does the other. Since the central nervous system is responsible for sending, receiving, and interpreting information from all parts of the body, it’s pretty darn important that it works as it should.

CranioSacral Therapy, by way of an incredibly soft and gentle touch, frees up the tissues in and around
the craniosacral system, resulting in improved form and function of the central nervous system. The body’s
natural healing processes kick in, order is restored, and pain may be significantly reduced.

Stress, whether a little or a lot, is part of life. CranioSacral Therapy can help minimize (or prevent) the toll it can take on the body.

Chiropractic Care

Our bodies are meant to move. Beautifully and without pain.

Joints, muscles, tendons, nerves, bones and all our other insides should exist and function harmoniously. When they don’t, we know it.We can experience anything from stiffness and dull aches to tightness and sharp pain – bottom line is we don’t feel so great … or worse, we out-and-out hurt.

The injury?  lt may be the result of a single event (improperly lifting an object, having surgery, suffering a fall) or of repetitive strain (weeks hunched over a laptop, for example), but whatever the cause, it has the potential to throw any number of your body’s systems completely out of whack. Muscle tightness, inflammation and/or pain is sure to come knocking.

Chiropractors specialize in diagnosing and treating tissue injuries involving the nerves, spine, muscles and joints. By manually applying a gentle, controlled and directed pressure into areas that have become hypomobile (restricted in their movement), a chiropractor can restore mobility and alleviate pain, nerve interference and those unfriendly “knots,” allowing tissues to heal.

Used in conjunction with Active Release Technique (ART®), chiropractic adjustments have proven to be especially beneficial in the treatment of joint restrictions, restoring range of motion, and decreasing chronic muscle and joint pain.

The first chiropractic visit lasts between 45 minutes and 1 hour and involves an assessment, a physical examination, diagnosis and treatment plan.  Subsequent visits typically are between 15 and 20 minutes.
